My wife and I were kicking around the idea of building a Matt box much like the Panflasher for Super 8, to lower the contrast of Kodachrome. What ya think!
Anybody know how many stops down the white light should be?

I know what a matte box is, but i'm a little fuzzy on what a "panflasher" is, and how it affects contrast...could you elaborate a bit more, Greg? Thanks, Mikeyb

Flashing is adding a very small controlled amount of white light to the exposure.
The increase in density would affect the low values more where you would like more detail. Fogging will lower the overall contrast by allowing the densities on the toe to creep upward without adding much at all, to the high light values.
Your apparent film speed (film index) would also increase meaning that you might be able to rate Kodachrome indoors at say ASA 64 and daylight at ASA 32.
Test would have to be conducted to adjust fog levels and film index speeds.
